Lahore BRT Design Simulation

Bus Rapid Transit Lahore

Bus Rapid Transit(BRT) will be introduced in the city of Lahore on all the major road. In the first phase, 27 kilometer long track will be laid from Gajjumata to Shahadara through Ferozepur Road and this project will be completed in collaboration with Turk companies. In future it will be extended to all the major roads of lahore and also other major cities of Punjab.

There are two proposed design for BRT on Ferozepur road.
  1. Center Line Flow Design
  2. Side Flow Design
Both of these proposed design simulations can be seen below:

    1. The centre-line option has been approved and will be implemented. Yes, passenger will use the over-head bridge for the crossing but there may be some provision of passenger crossing at grade also.

  5. The bus track, should have two lanes or one Service lane to incorporate situation, when any of bus become out of order. In this way, the other bus traffic will continue and not stop because of one bus is stopped on road.

Second, what about exit of Fuel station for all lanes. Not showing in video.

    1. Dear, this video was simulation of the Initial preliminary design for Metrobus Project. Since then, many modifications are made in the design. It addresses almost all the issues and it will be able to provide all state of the art facilities present in developing/developed countries.

It looks great and will help to reduce the traffic problems in Lahore.
But as far as concerns there are some issues which should be the cause of trouble.

    1:
Make the alternative if bus brake down and need to take bus to service center (Garage). I can't see any option regarding the brakedown services.
if bus stop working then the coming buses from behind will stop.

    2:
What is the solution for Old, Wheelchair, Disable peoples and Pregnant ladies. So I would suggest "not to use" the
"BRT Centre-Line Design Simulation" because of the over-head bridge.

    3:
Must be installed and equipped with CCTV Security equipment for the protection of innocent and crime victims.

    4:
Traffic rules must be strike for "Munchallay" to avoid any collisions and traffic issues.

Dear brother i will try to answer your queries. These simulation videos were intial design options. But Thanks to Allah Almighty that this project is complete now and operations has started since 10th February, 2013.

      1. If the bus (Articulated bus, here called metrobus)breaks down, then dedicated tow trucks will be avaialble to take the bus to Garage. Buses are allowed to over-take in such situation

      2. Escaltors are provided on every station for elder people. However, lift will be avaialbe in next phase for persons eith wheel chair etc.

      3. Yes, complete security will be avaialble throghout the corridor using guards and CCTV cameras. A control centre is also established for this prupose.

      4. Rules and penalties are defined for this purpose.
